The library is open from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on alternate Mondays and every Wednesday and Friday. On these days it is open before school, at recess and during lunch for students.

Northeast Kings Education Centre opened in September 2001. The school replaced the high schools of Kings County Academy in Kentville, and Cornwallis District High School, in Canning.
NKEC, a 6 to 12 school, has about 900 students and 80 staff members. Glooscap Elementary School and Aldershot Elementary School students feed into the school in grade 6, while students from Kings County Academy come into the school at grade 9.
The school has a large gymnasium that can be divided into two separate gyms so both the middle school and high school can use it at the same time, a cafeteria, a Learning Commons and 50 classrooms and labs. It has a stage that opens for viewing in the cafeteria or the gymnasium as well as an outdoor stage and seating.
